Donald Trump is our only hope

I told you last week that President Trump had turned a corner with his State of the Union address. He is in full campaign mode, and no one is better on the campaign trail than Donald Trump. But the liberals are handing him ammunition. The Green New Deal is a dream come true for Trump. That’s why it’s so important in this moment of American history that we have someone like Trump in the White House. He is the clear delineation between capitalism and socialism.

This is where the Democrats have been heading for a long time. It could be argued that this is where they’ve been for a long time. Tip O’Neill didn’t start the slide to socialism for the Democrats, but he’s emblematic of the bridge between the likes of Sam Rayburn and Nancy Pelosi. When my father was a Democrat in Congress in the ‘80s, people like Pelosi and Barney Frank were considered the left fringe of the party. Now they’re the middle of the road of the Democrat Party. They’re also being edged out by the more radical voices of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Elizabeth Warren, and Kamala Harris.

Some are frightened of these radical new voices, and well they should be, but these voices also offer a clear contrast to capitalism in this country. Trump is capitalism personified. He loves this country. He knows what made it great. He’s an American success story. Had we even had someone as business-minded as Mitt Romney as president we wouldn’t have this clear distinction. Romney tends to be mushy on the important issues like illegal immigration and global warming. He would surely be compromising with the likes of AOC.

Trump understands his role in history. He is the bulwark against a total transformation of this country from capitalism that made it great to socialism that has failed wherever it’s been tried. That is the litmus test. Ask any proponent of AOC and socialism to cite any example—past or present—where socialism has worked. They can’t. The irony of all of this is they cry for taxing the ‘tippy top’ at 70 percent while Venezuela, which did exactly that, crumbles before our eyes.

Speaking of irony, Sen. Amy Klobuchar announced her candidacy for president and scolded the Republicans about the dangers of global warming in the midst of a blizzard. Of course, the people who spent decades telling us the earth was going to burn are now telling us the frigid weather is climate change. These are the same people who point to floods as climate change but were just telling us we were running out of water.

Any other Republican president would be buckling to the pressure from the radical global warming crowd. Not Trump. He made fun of Klobuchar’s announcement, and well he should. The liberals are fond of saying, “Speak truth to power.” Trump is speaking truth to liars. This Green New Deal would be a disaster for America. It would cut off the lifeblood of capitalism which is affordable energy. It would reward people who don’t work. It would cost the taxpayers trillions they don’t have.

Global warming like Occupy Wall Street and myriad other left-wing causes are merely vehicles to destroy capitalism and give rise to socialism. Socialism is complete government control. If you don’t know what that looks like remember this. The Nazis were socialists. Like I said, socialism has been tried many times before and failed.

Trump is now above 50 percent in approval. He is what stands between us and another Venezuela. Our only hope is that he prevails.

They're running out of letters to describe sex

Seems like every time we turn around they’re adding a new letter to LGBTQ. PJMedia recently ran a story about “Inclusiveness Training” for teachers at a Canadian school district. The aim was to teach teachers to be more tolerant of “LGGBDTTTIQQAAPP” students. I’m not kidding.

It’s an acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Genderqueer, Bisexual, Demisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Twospirit, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, Asexual, Allies, Pansexual, and Polyamorous. Many of these are self-explanatory. Others need explanation.

Genderqueer, PJMedia notes, is “a person who does not subscribe to conventional gender distinctions but identifies with neither, both, or a combination of male and female genders.” OK. I guess in their quest to always be different they don’t want to be pigeonholed.

Demisexual. I love this one. It’s “a person who does not experience sexual attraction unless they form a strong emotional connection with someone.” That’s the old-fashioned monogamous relationship. You know the one, where you actually meet then fall in love with someone before you jump in the sack with them.

Twospirit. PJ says this “appears to be a third gender not yet discovered by science and only found in the Native American community.” Other than that, we have no idea what this is.

Intersex is what used to be known as a hermaphrodite. That’s someone born with both male and female sex organs. It’s an unfortunate birth defect that is usually corrected. Now, I guess, it’s celebrated.

Questioning is someone who hasn’t made up their mind where they fall. No wonder. There are so many swell choices.

Asexual is someone who has no interest in sex. You’d think that would not even be allowed on this list since the people (or person) who compiled it seem obsessed with sex.

Allies. These are you sensitive ones out there who are constantly showing support for the LGBTOMG people. It’s also the parents of normal kids who are a bit embarrassed that they don’t have one of those trendy LGBTOMG kids. They’re all the rage in LA these days. Come on, Junior. Why couldn’t you grow up to be like Kevin Spacey?

Pansexual is a hip way to describe someone who is bisexual. I had a listener who said it was actually someone who has sex with panhandlers. I had to correct him. That’s a hobosexual.

Then there’s polyamorous. These are the wife-swapping swingers who have been shunned by the rest of us for years as sickos. They’ve found a home in the LGBTOMG community. After all, what could possibly be sick about wanting to see your wife in bed with another man? You people are SO square.

If you wonder why much of the liberal world is now being rocked by sex scandals wonder no more. When you create a world in which anything goes then anything will go. Monogamous relationships may be boring to the hipsters out there but we boring monogamous types will never see our pictures on the Internet alongside the word “groping.”

Nancy Pelosi and others are now trying to say this behavior goes on in every office across the country. Misery loves company. I’ve been in radio for nearly 40 years, one of those dreaded “entertainment” businesses. I’ve never seen a bunch of groping going on. Sorry, Nancy. Nice try at normalizing immoral behavior but most of us aren’t participating. Oh, yeah, there have been office romances and the occasional affair, but most people aren’t grabbing women just because they think they’re can.

I actually saw some woman in the porn industry tweet #MeToo. Seriously? The free-love hippie chickens of the 1960s are coming home to roost.

More Obamacare surprises

Just when we thought we knew everything about Obamacare up pops another little surprise. The Weekly Standard reported that there’s a great reason insurance companies were so eager to jump on the bandwagon. Aside from compulsory customers, The Weekly Standard reported that we - the taxpayers - are on the hook for 80 percent of the expenses over $45,000. In other words, if someone has a catastrophic illness the government will pick up the tab for four-fifths of the cost.

This is one of the many paths laid down by Obamacare to a single payer healthcare system. You probably hear that term a lot. What it basically means is there will be one insurance
payer - the government. The insurance companies will essentially be administrators. They’ll handle the claims. What they don’t see coming is once the government assumes all of the risk they won’t need dozens of companies writing policies. They’ll just need one.

To make it more palatable the government will essentially absorb one of the big names you’re familiar with. Maybe Blue Cross. Perhaps United Healthcare. It won’t really matter. They won’t be insuring you any longer. The government will.

Now, you may not see the danger in that so let me open your eyes. A recent survey showed that Medicare denied more claims than your average insurance company. That’s counterintuitive to most people. They think the insurance companies are just sitting around waiting for claims to come in so they can deny them. Maybe they’d like to deny more than they do but what keeps them honest is the market. Yes, competition makes them better at servicing the patient than the government.

Eventually the reality of too many people and too few dollars to pay for their care will catch up with our new health insurance benefactor. In order to keep the program solvent they are going to have to start denying people healthcare. That’s just a fact. The program will be upside down from day one and the only way to keep it from eating us alive will be to cut services.

By then so many doctors will have left the profession that getting in to see your primary care physician will take weeks, if not months.

The free market makes healthcare better. It makes health insurance better. Insurance companies compete for business, especially with corporate accounts, and if too many people complain about the lousy insurance the company finds someone else. Once the government takes over there will be no one else. And by then the free market insurance companies will be just a memory.

I don’t mean to harp on this because there’s nothing we can do now but the House Republicans held all the cards during the last budget fight. Going along with a budget that fully funded Obamacare amounted to political malpractice. Now these same Republicans are back telling us how we need to stop Obamacare. You had your chance and you blew it.

The only thing that could save us now are the myriad lawsuits making their way through the court system. If just one of those finds light we still have some hope. Otherwise we need to begin preparing ourselves for the post-Obamacare world. Many will find physicians or physicians assistants who take cash and circumvent the entire mess. That’s great for day-to-day healthcare needs but God forbid you need to be hospitalized.

I guess Nancy Pelosi was right when she said we’d have to pass Obamacare to see what was in it. We’ve seen. We’d have been better off to burn it rather than pass it.
