Having brought my wife here from England, I can attest to the fact that the fees are a lot more than you would profess that they are. It's 350 to 500 dollars to apply for a visa, depending on the type of visa, then there are couple other minor application fees for financial review etc, and then 1t's 1500 dollars for a temporary green card. Two years later there's another 1500 dollars for a permanent green card. If I added in the fees we paid to an immigration attorney (well worth the cost), it ran us over ten thousand dollars for the entire process. SO I would not be surprised if a lottery visa weren't in the neighborhood of seven thousand (if you hire an attorney). I didn't really mind the cost, or the year it took us to get her here legally, because you should have to be willing to put something into the process if you want to come here and take advantage of what our country is. My issue, is that when you make flippant and obviously poorly researched comments, your inaccuracies only give the opposition more ammunition.
